
SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13
(By Senators Unger, Snyder, Anderson, Bailey, Boley, Bowman,
Burnette, Caldwell, Chafin, Craigo, Deem, Edgell, Facemyer,
Fanning, Helmick, Hunter, Jackson, Kessler, Love, McCabe,
McKenzie, Minard, Minear, Mitchell, Oliverio, Plymale, Prezioso,
Redd, Ross, Rowe, Sharpe, Sprouse, Wooton and Tomblin, Mr.
President)
Recognizing Martinsburg South Middle School for its participation
in the Tobacco Prevention Program.


Whereas, Sixth grade students from Martinsburg South Middle
School, Berkeley County, West Virginia are participating in the
Tobacco Prevention Program sponsored by the Berkeley County
Health Department and Berkeley County Schools; and

Whereas, The program, under the direction of program
coordinator Mary Jo Brown, teachers Andrew Fincham and Donna
Markley, along with Twila Carr, is designed to raise awareness of
the dangers of cigarette smoking. Through the project, costume
characters, such as "Joe Fool", will dance and cough. "Joe Fool"
also teaches the rhyme, "I smoke, choke and stay broke. I'm not
cool; I'm a fool."; and

Whereas, The sixth grade students participating in the
program are Brittany Newland, Mital Patel, Lexi Rodgers, Charlene Knotts, Brittany Yoder, Brandon Murphy, Kellie Childs, Tiffany
Hudson, Carl Tory and Andy Joiner; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby recognizes these outstanding students
for their participation in the Berkeley County Tobacco Prevention
Program; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to the director of Public
Information for Berkeley County Schools and each participating
student.
